My Design for the UNSW B.E Building

Inspiration

My inspiration in designing my building was the Absolute Towers by Burka Architects and MAD Studio. As a result, I wanted to develop a design near this and add an extra feature to it. As a result, I decided to develop an object in between that connected the two towers, but the object would also move up and down as an acting elevator and a lab for students to make their projects.

The truss structure that I have used to support my elevator is inspired from Roger Stirk Partners, which keeps both the structure stable and the elevator moving swiftly.

For my elevator, I wanted to make an intricate shape as it is an exhibition room which presents unique projects, so it should be seen as a unique room and I wanted to aim for a shape down below:

Developing the Design

In order of developing my design, I used grasshopper to establish my building and bridge.

How this relates to my theory?

It is simply innovative and unique through the use of Grasshopper, an upcoming design tool.

Technical Difficulties:
Converting from rhino to sketchup would not allow me to add walls and components meaning the interior was a challenge.
